Establishment of the College |

THE ESTABLISHMENT, OBJECTIVES AND FUNCTIONS OF THE COLLEGE The College is a Diploma awarding institution established in 1992 under law No. 5 of 1993. The establishment of the College was as a result of the quest to improve the condition of Arabic and Islamic Education in Kwara State which dates back to the late 70s.
The College was established to pursue the following objectives:- - To supply the much needed manpower in the field of Arabic, Islamic Studies, Shariah and Civil Law.
- To satisfy the yearnings and aspirations of parents and products of Macahid and Madaris (various institutions of Arabic and Islamic Studies) to further their education in an institution of higher learning.
- To also provide for candidates who possess Higher Islamic Studies Certificates, Grade Two Arabic Certificate, Senior Secondary School Certificate, Senior Islamic Studies Certificate and Tawjihi or Thanawi Certificate.
- To prepare students to acquire the pre-requisite qualification for Admission to Universities in Nigeria and abroad to undergo degree courses in various disciplines.
Without prejudice to the above objectives, the functions of the College according to its enabling law are:-
- to organize, improve and develop courses for the training of various categories of teachers and legal personnel;
- to promote research and advancement of science and learning;
- to serve as a centre for Educational research especially as applied to local conditions;
- to organize, improve and extend Education of a standard higher than the secondary school level;
- to encourage all classes and communities without any distinction to pursue a regular and liberal course of Education; and
- to perform such other functions as in the opinion of the Council which may serve to promote the objectives of the College.
So far, the College achieves its objectives and functions as many of the secondary school graduates and graduates of Macahid and Madaris have been admitted into the College. Interestingly, many products of the College are now University graduates. In fact, some of them have completed their Masters Degree. Besides, those of them who, for one reason or the other, could not go to University have been employed as Teachers, Legal Practitioners, Judicial Officers, Area Court Judges, Journalist, Administrators etc.
